Sail Care and Cleaning

  
  Caring for your sails pays off in two ways. Their value as assets is maintained and their overall shape and condition degrades less quickly. Sun is the #1 enemy, so keep your sails covered with bags, covers or sacrificial UV strips.
An occasional freshwater rinse with proper drying will keep your sails looking good. Salt, being hygroscopic makes a fertile ground for staining mildew and rust from hardware.
Once a year take a critical look at each sail and assess the need for cleaning or repair.
